East Coast Wings & Grill Heating Things Up in Tennessee
Winston Salem, N.C. – Continuing its aggressive expansion outside of its North Carolina hub, East Coast Wings & Grill, a restaurant concept known for its 75 flavors of award-winning buffalo-style wings, has turned its attention to opening as many as 20 restaurants throughout Tennessee over the next five years.
Having recently inked a franchise development agreement in Knoxville, company executives have set their sights on Nashville and Memphis for growth, as well.
The Knoxville group’s agreement calls for five restaurants with ambitions to expand the investment to at least 50 within seven years in several states. Meanwhile, CEO Sam Ballas believes the Memphis and Nashville markets can hold as many as five and ten stores respectively.
“We’ve built a little slower than normal as a franchise model, but that gave us the opportunity to pivot the brand and establish a top line standard,” said Ballas, noting the company’s dedication to finding quality franchisees. “Focusing on this strategic growth, we are confident Tennessee will provide another successful expansion for us.”
Proving success in the concept with 37 consecutive quarters of same-store sales increases, East Coast Wings & Grill brings a different slant to the chicken wing segment.
Focused on great-tasting, freshly prepared food for families, rather than alcohol (alcohol sales attribute for less than 11 percent of total sales), the brand creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that gives customers a sense of community. While its 75 flavors and 675 combinations of buffalo wings remain a staple of the brand, East Coast Wings & Grill’s six-page menu incorporates casual dining fare including burgers, salads, sandwiches and more.
“Our brand’s accomplishments can be attributed to a variety of elements uncharacteristic of the chicken wing industry,” said Dan Collins, Senior Vice President of Brand Development. “Our recipe for success is onboarding high-quality franchisees who are hiring and training the right people, serving fresh ingredients, and of course, creating a comfortable environment for the whole family to enjoy.”
To augment the growth, East Coast Wings & Grill is seeking additional single- and multi-unit franchisees to develop the company’s network of restaurants. The cost to open an East Coast Wings & Grill is between $245,000 and $873,000, with a franchise fee of $30,000.
