James Puopolo opened TruBlue of Wakefield in March of 2017 and, at the end of his first month, the business was just kicking-off and had only made about $300. But now, after a year in business, TruBlue of Wakefield is up to 10 employees and Puopolo has broken the first-year sales record for franchisees.

“My motto was – and still is – to grow the business one customer at a time by making every customer happy, but that takes time. I hired an awesome contractor with an unrestricted license and, over the last year, I learned a lot from him. His experience and his license also meant we could take on larger remodels, which helped us get off to a good start after that first month. By the third month, I had to start expanding the team,” Puopolo said. “I’m looking forward to the future of TruBlue and I’m thankful for the support of the franchise, especially TruBlue President Greg Platz, who has been with me every step of the way.”

TruBlue offers handyman services, house cleaning services, emergency repairs, seasonal projects, yard/lawn care, a home watch program, a senior accessibility program and more. TruBlue is a great option for busy families and seniors who want the comforts of their own home without worrying about property maintenance. TruBlue also works with homeowners, realtors and rental property owners who need to get homes move-in ready and keep them maintained and has a commercial services for business clients. TruBlue of Wakefield serves Wakefield, Lynnfield, Melrose, Stoneham, Peabody, Saugus, Reading, North Reading and the surrounding areas.

Puopolo has a corporate retail background and spent his career in retail management. The part of his retail career that he enjoyed the most was the process of renovating and building new locations. Planning and executing the complex steps required to open high-end retail stores was a challenge he thoroughly enjoyed. He embraced his passion for creating a perfect experience for his customers, on a budget, when opening his TruBlue franchise.

He brings this same passion and attention to detail to his TruBlue franchise. What sets them apart from the competition is that they are trying to win customers for life with every job. They strive for the highest quality at the lowest possible cost to the homeowner. Puopolo follows-up with every customer upon completion of the job to ensure they are happy with the service they received. Their focus on customer services is something John W. Tew, the maintenance director for Hanscom Family Housing, appreciates.

“Our expectations for service from our Vendors are very high, and I only use top performers who can provide the very best care for my Military Families. Trublue has been with me for over a year performing various duties to include COM, Change of Maintenance, cleaning and final prep for homes to be ready for inbound Military Families. They are on time, on budget, and provide an excellent ‘first impression’ to my new move in Families,” Tew said. “In addition I used them to remodel our ‘old Military decorated’ Community Center. They were able to take an old drab looking facility and turn it into a place our Residents are proud to host parties and family gatherings for their neighbors as well as visiting guest. I highly recommend you consider the services of TruBlue of Wakefield to help you meet your goals.”

Platz said he’s enjoyed working with Puopolo over the last year and is looking forward to his future success.

“When Jim came to meet us for the first time, he was working 20 hour days in retailing – he was looking for a work-life balance. As a retail survivor myself, I knew Jim would be great for this business. He understands customer service is the foundation TruBlue is built upon. From the first day of training to now, Jim has been a pleasure to work with. He's always positive and treats his customers and employees like family. That's why his business has taken off the way it has. The sky is the limit for Jim,” Platz said. “I'm also very happy he now has time to spend with his two young children. It's very rewarding when you see this business change people's lives for the better.”

In addition to working with homeowners on large and small projects – and doing house cleaning and handyman work at Hanscom Air Force Base – Puopolo is looking forward to expanding the business to include Trex Decking (TruBlue should be licensed within the month) and additional commercial clients.

TruBlue of Wakefield has been serving the military base since their opening last year. There are a lot of logistics, strict deadlines, and very high standards (white glove inspections) when serving a military housing community, and the director found they were exceptional in their service and efficient in completing the work; so started referring them to other residential properties. They offer the same services to realtors selling homes and property management companies with apartment rental properties that need to be repaired, painted and cleaned before the next tenants move in date.

“We’re excited about the future of TruBlue and we’re pleased that most of our business now comes from referrals and repeat customers. That tells me we’re doing high-quality work and people like doing business with us. That’s important to me and to my team,” he added.

All TruBlue franchises are fully insured and bonded and all employees are background checked. To learn more about TruBlue of Wakefield, call (857)206-2947, email JPuopolo@TruBlueHouseCare.com or visit http://www.TruBlueWakefield.com.
