As Above the Standard Procurement Group® (Above the Standard) has been growing around the globe, we had the distinct pleasure of being introduced to a very bright, charismatic, experienced, yet highly energized individual by the name of Jerahmeel Chen in September, 2011. As we were looking to expand our relationships in the Philippine and ASEAN market, we found Jerahmeel to be talented with both left and right abilities – finance, audit, compliance, accounting, marketing, entrepreneurial, management, sales, and many other skillsets.
After communicating to hundreds of people, Above the Standard decided to ask Jerahmeel Chen if he would like to represent us in Makati, Philippines and grow out ASEAN marketplace.
Both Jerahmeel and Above the Standard agreed that he would start building a team that would build the foundation of a hub team led by his abilities and direction, and supported by Above the Standard’s unique global model. Above the Standard not only improves the bottom line for small to some of the largest organizations in the world, at no cost until they perform in most cases, but also helps to continue sustainable measures as a full procurement and financial services firm with just about every service you need in this global business and economy.
The foundation is being built and the official training and implementation of this team will take place in the last quarter of 2012. Jerahmeel Chen – General Business Overview
Jerahmeel Fandrall Chen was born and raised in Cebu, Philippines. He studied and obtained a BS Management Accountancy at the University of San Carlos. After his studies in the University, he attended the Asian Institute of Management for his Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurship. He started creating companies at the age of 19 in production of music videos and outdoor advertising and then, created a coffee shop in Cebu. Later, he moved to Metro Manila. There, he was hired by the family to manage the Manila operations of their family business (they have several locations). He structured the company with an objective to make it lean and cost efficient and was successful in a short period of time. He implemented operations management, organizational structure, and financial systems that helped make the family business more professional.
At the same time, Jerahmeel Chen was approached by a friend from Hong Kong (HK) to help manage their businesses throughout the country and locations beyond. This company’s focus is in Micro Finance for OFWs, manufacturing of motorcycles, telecommunications, and mining. He was tasked to create business plans, structural reforms, and quasi debt restructuring of their fledging business in micro finance. After successfully helping complete these areas and take this multi-diverse and faceted company to the global level they needed, he left the company to continue in the family business especially in the project in expanding the business to HK. He set up their corporate office in HK to manage the financial transactions of the family especially its dollar denominated transactions.
Recently, the application for export and import permits to create a food distribution company that aims to ship agricultural based products to other countries like UAE, US, Japan, China, Australia and South Korea is being initiated as the global demands for food products from certain global areas are increasing.
Jerahmeel Chen – Charity & Non-Profit Work
Since 2002, Jerahmeel Chen has pursued charity work mainly focusing on the months of June and December where the need is immense in his country. There, he spearheaded the crafting of social events where out of school youth, orphans can interact with his classmates in the spirit of Christmas. After transferring to Manila, he reconnected with AIESEC Foundation and was asked to be part of their board of advisers where he helped reshape their financial model. There he was asked to speak about topics such as, organizational development, change management, entrepreneurship, and the essence of AIESEC in his life.

He also applied for membership of the Junior Chamber International in Manila as he was recommended by a colleague in the Asian Institute of Management. He was co-chairman for a project in raising funds to buy a vehicle for a school whose objective is to provide free education to the children in Tondo, Manila.
Jerahmeel Chen – High School
During his high school days, he joined the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and Student Council. Though losing his bid for secretary general in the student council elections, he held positions in the student body as the chairman for student council constitutional amendment, Junior Assistant Scout Master, committee member for the educational tour for the batch, and a member of the Core Group for the student council. In college, he was an officer in the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountancy as the chairman of the electoral committee. There, he instituted reforms in the electoral process and the modernization of the elections. He was also the Chairman of the Audit committee in the Supreme Student Council of the University of San Carlos, as well as the President of the Luntiang Kabataan ng Pilipinas (an environmentalist organization whose aim is to build a greener Philippines), and President of the Filipino – Chinese Organization. Lastly, he was the chairman of the graduation committee whose task was to plan for the graduation ball and create a job fair for the graduating class.

Its distinct location makes it ideal for business ranging from logistics hub, regional office, and a bridge between the West and the East. Though, over its history, the Philippines has been plagued by bad government practices and corruption. Its stock market is one of the few who has achieved double digit growth and an improvement in the industrialization of its industries. As such, the country is now poised to be one of the breakaway nations and emerge as a tiger economy.
