South Dakota’s First Potbelly Sandwich Shop to Open in Sioux Falls
The beloved shop will bring its signature sandwiches, shakes and live music to the Intersection of 41st Street and Western Avenue
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Potbelly Sandwich Shop announced today an agreement that will soon bring South Dakota its first shop. Currently slated to open this winter, the shop will be located at 2101 W. 41st Street, conveniently situated near the Western Mall, adjacent to Scheels All Sports. The widely acclaimed neighborhood hangout will feature its toasty warm sandwiches, hand-dipped milkshakes and live, local music.
Potbelly shops have earned a reputation in communities coast-to-coast, for having delicious food, fun décor and fresh tunes. Paul Goldammer, the owner of the new sandwich shop, is a Sioux Falls native with close community connections and a strong reputation as a local attorney.
“The Potbelly vibe will resonate well here in Sioux Falls. It’s a natural fit,” Goldammer said. “As a community-driven shop, Potbelly is going to find a welcome home here in Sioux Falls. It is a great feeling to be part of bringing Potbelly here for our longtime friends, family and neighbors too enjoy.”
Goldammer and longtime friend and local resident Lance O’Hara will run the shop. O’Hara will help manage the restaurant’s operations, handling new staff recruitment, even booking local musicians, when Sioux Fall’s “best place for lunch” opens this winter.
“There is nothing like Potbelly. I became a huge fan when I went to school in Minneapolis and later lived there after graduation,” Goldammer said. “The great tasting food and environment create an experience that will quickly become a hit here in Sioux Falls.”
Goldammer’s Potbelly Sandwich Shop will hire about 30 staff members, including customer service staff and managers. The restaurant’s operation and delivery hours will be announced at a later date.
“Paul and his team are the perfect addition to the Potbelly family. We are thrilled to share our delicious shakes and sandwiches with their neighbors in Sioux Falls,” said Mike Walters, head of franchise development for Potbelly Sandwich Shop. “Every new sandwich shop is designed to resemble the community it resides in, and Paul has the deep rooted community values Potbelly looks for when choosing franchise partners.”
Potbelly Sandwich Shop first opened in Chicago in 1977, and now includes more than 300 shops across the United States. There are also 20-plus franchise shops in the United States and abroad, and the company is projecting more franchised shops to open in 2014.
